Hope Lake Lodge at Greek Peak Mountain Resort is located in the beautiful hills of Cortland, NY and offers everything you are looking for in a weekend getaway!
Hope Lake Lodge guest rooms have a rustic, log cabin feel to them. This aspect of the trip definitely added to the special feel of our weekend getaway. We stayed in the Roaring Brook Suite. This suite can sleep up to 6 people with a queen bed in the loft and a queen murphy bed and pullout sofa downstairs. This suite has 2 full baths which is super convenient with 6 people. The kitchen was well appointed. We appreciated being able to spread out in this spacious, comfortable suite.
In order to use the indoor waterpark, you either need to purchase a lodging package which includes waterpark passes or purchase passes once you arrive. We traveled with 4 kids ranging in age from 5-12 and the waterpark was a huge hit with each and every one of them!
My personal favorite aspect of this waterpark is the wave pool. The water was REALLY warm, the waves were endless and inner tubes were not only allowed but provided. The indoor/outdoor hot tub (Hot Springs) was a close second, although I feel strongly, they should raise the minimum age from 6 to much older!
As for the children, 1 of them loved the wave pool, 2 of them loved the water slides, and 1 of them loved the indoor/outdoor pool. That only covers about half of what was available to them.
A few other convenient things about the waterpark: towels are provided, there are separate changing rooms and bathrooms, there is a small cafe. The cafe menu has a good variety of food and we sampled enough of it to say that it is pretty good. Nothing fancy, but it was tasty. They also have a pretty extensive menu of adult beverages!
Attached to the waterpark, there is an arcade. The arcade has a really nice variety of games for all ages. As a parent, I really appreciate the affordability of this arcade. I purchased each kid a $20 game card (that came with a $5 bonus for a total of $25 in play) and they were able to play for over an hour! Most games were $0.50-$0.75 per play. Incredible!
Between the waterpark and the arcade, the kids packed a lot of fun into our weekend getaway!
What Didn’t We Do?!?
Well, actually quite a bit. Greek Peak has an Outdoor Adventure Center featuring a gravity-fed Mountain Coaster, guided Zip Line Tour of 4 Dual Zip Lines (2 Lines November-March), a High Aerial Challenge Course (High Ropes – seasonal), a “Little Adventurers Playland” featuring a Bounce House (more amenities to be added soon), and an 18 lane Winter Tubing Center.
We are already planning a return trip this coming August so that we can take advantage of these fun activities!
The Grownups Had Fun Too!
I already mentioned that I thoroughly enjoyed the wave pool and the Hot Springs, but there were a few other hotel amenities that we adults were able to enjoy on our own time!
First, let’s talk about the spa. There are quite a few spa services to choose from, all at a really reasonable cost. I enjoyed a 50-min Swedish Massage. The massage space was comfortable and relaxing, and I was overall very pleased with my experience.
Second, Carvers Steakhouse. This on-site restaurant was a lovely place to spend an evening enjoying a few drinks and eating a delicious dinner. I highly recommend the Cherry Lemon Drop Martini- amazing!
Lastly, the lobby was a really nice place to hang out. One night, we brought a bottle of Prosecco from our room, along with 2 champagne glasses and sat by the fire. It was so nice. Relaxing!
All in all, our weekend getaway at Hope Lake Lodge was pretty great and we are looking forward to going back.
